Mastodon 3.5 will release today

@noellabo @mayaeh There is unfortunately a middle stage where compose panel is visible but navigation panel is not visible. On that screen size, explore is not accessible currently, except if you submit an empty search form.

@noellabo @mayaeh "Optional" is a badly chosen class name. The element disappears when the screen is bigger, not when the screen is smaller.

Turns out around 700 GB of media storage on mastodon.social was being consumed by multiple Twitter "bridges" running on different domains, reposting Twitter users' tweets into the fediverse as far as I'm aware without their (the Twitter users') participation or knowledge.

That's 10% of our media storage accumulated over 6 years. At least cross-posters set up their own accounts, that's still legit use. This, it just feels so wasteful. How Twitter even gives out API keys for this, I don't know.

I've been able to get my hands on the #TruthSocial source code (they do have a link to it on their website, although their website is not accessible to me).

They have disabled federation features. I absolutely expected that, just confirming it for others. It is just another walled garden.

joinmastodon.org is back up. The host it's on has been unstable after recent system updates, I will be looking into reinstalling everything elsewhere soon.
