War happens in far place from us and will invade our place.

Emergency tower clearly contributes happiness of people. Therefore, it’s not good to compare it to army. But mental mechanisms which works in political decision makings are maybe same especially in cases on enormous decision with huge budget.

Now I think that politicians in pre-war era might be similar with him. They should have been explained about arms, battles and wars and demanded budget for them by officers. And they should have promised support in order for “the national benefit” without reality. That must be same until the defeat.

For me, my boss seemed satisfied as he could perform well for his position, a local senator, to the officers and the governor behind them. Of course he had learned and had understood significance of the tower. But, that huge equipment in front of us had less meaning or value on his own life than performance as a politician.

I have visited an “emergency tower”, which people evacuate to when tsunami occurs, for inspection with my boss, a senator. Despite the local officers explain how they commit on the project and how national money helped it, it was difficult to find feelings of reality for us. We listened to them, promised more support by budget, and went to the next place. That’s all.

政治活動の咎でゼミは「破門」になったが、「愛せない場合は、通り過ぎよ」というニーチェの言葉を教えてもらったことはときどき思い出す。
