Ok, I'm not into anime at all, but I can totally see why so many people prefer its vibrancy and colours over grim dark western art.

@shmibs @hckr I have read Orwell. I have also seen what socialism does first hand and how it fucks people up for generations.

@Telvannichad @hckr @shmibs I know. But Einstein fled Germany before WW2. I wanna say it was 1934, but I'm not sure.

@hckr @Telvannichad @shmibs you made me actually google. Einstein was in the US with a visit when the great austrian painter took over, so he just decided not to return. Much less poetic than I thought.

@shmibs @hckr the us seems retarded in way too many regards from across the pond. But that doesn’t make socialism any better. There’s probably a reason why Einstein fled to the us and not to the ussr.

@lain that, and also, how the fuck does american education cost $300k for four years of being high on weed?I mean, I understand why people with metric tons of money send their kids to join the elite club. But taking a loan to pay for education itself is just some bizarre kind of stupid. Especially given how you can easily hire a full time teacher with a PhD in your field of interest for that price and still have extra to buy a Porsche.

@shmibs @hckr I like writing code that works on all types of numbers, not just floats or ints. Adhoc polymorphism is too cool to ignore.

@hckr having some adhoc polymorphism would be nice. Revamping the standard library and making sense of it, because having to use different operators for different types of numbers is pure stupid. Then, tangentially related to the language itself but important nonetheless, OCaml tooling is crap. Better than it used to be, but still crap. The amount of dependencies that still use make or autoconf is truly staggering. I might be spoiled by Haskell here, but being able to just type something like ‘stack install’ and build an entire project without thinking is golden. I also miss this in other languages too.

@Moon @lain oh maybe you should. But it means a tiny bit different thing from what you described.Basically, the incompleteness theorems mean that there's no algorithm that can derive all true statements given some set of axioms and that there always will be undecidable statements. But this has nothing to do with gnosticism, unlike what some people try to imply.

@nonetrix again, they don't run freebsd. They have some drivers from freebsd kernel, but that's it.From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_Switch_system_software:>Notable findings include that the Switch operating system is codenamed Horizon, that it is an evolution of the Nintendo 3DS system software, and that it implements a proprietary microkernel architecture.[4][3] All drivers run in userspace, including the Nvidia driver which the security researchers described as "kind of similar to the Linux driver".There's an open source implementation of their kernel called Mesosphere, which again isn't FreeBSD.

      Nintendo Switch system software
The Nintendo Switch system software (also known by its codename Horizon) is an updatable firmware and operating system used by the Nintendo Switch video game console. Its main portion is the HOME screen, consisting of the top bar, the screenshot viewer ("Album"), and shortcuts to the Nintendo eShop, News, and Settings. Technology OS Nintendo has released only limited information about the Switch's internals to the public, however computer security researchers, homebrew software developers, and the authors of emulators have all analyzed the operating system in great depth.Notable findings include that the Switch operating system is codenamed Horizon, that it is an evolution of the Nintendo 3DS system software, and that it implements a proprietary microkernel architecture. All drivers run in userspace, including the Nvidia driver which the security researchers described as "kind of similar to the Linux driver". The graphics driver features an undocumented thin API layer, called NVN, which is "kind of like Vulkan" but exposes most hardware features like OpenGL...
