@vaeringjar I looked up in a source code a way a text is handled, when HTML content is enabled or disabled. As I see now, this needs to be improved. I started from test creation, based on your first post about the Light Bulb, and easily found that when HTML is enabled, #AndStatus "unescapes" the text unnecessarily thus breaking HTML-encoding. Will fix this. https://loadaverage.org/attachment/4801600
@aldobelus I just added the "Unread notifications" timeline, sorted by the time of download ("received ... minutes ago"), so it is easy to see new activities. Moreover, the Timeline has "Mark all as read" button to explicitly instruct #AndStatus to not notify about all currently shown activities anymore. This will solve both problems that you mentions. @colegotahttps://loadaverage.org/attachment/4800772
@vaeringjar You probably have "Allow HTML content" enabled for this Social Network in #AndStatus. This is why it interprets content of your post as HTML-formatted, and text between "less" and "greater than" are interpreted as an HTML tag :-) You may disable this feature for the network and then try again... << The first line >> The second line https://loadaverage.org/attachment/4797429
@aldobelus I'm testing "Unread notifications" timeline. It's sorted by time of activities download, not by their creation time (as all other timelines), so it's easy to see, what's new. @colegotahttps://loadaverage.org/attachment/4796262
@grillpflanze This means that you are not connected via WiFi. To download attachments via Mobile network please turn off in #AndStatus Settings -> Attachments -> Download Attachments over WiFi only
@dwmatiz I changed #AndStatus to keep selected Account. I.e. no account switches on timeline/context switching... Some related changes, e.g. with Timeline titles were done also... You may try this in the v.44.00 https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456
@dwmatiz Couldn't reproduce this so far: in my case the f** draft disappeared completely after the Discard command. But I know, why you could encounter this: 1. Draft deletion is an asynchronous action. So you may see a draft before it is actually deleted. 2. Sometimes context menu commands don't work due to the Timeline being updated after opening the context menu :-( (need to improve this...) 3. Some months ago I noticed that a draft is not discarded due to some other reason. Please make sure you have v. 43,02 installed.
@dwmatiz I don't think this problem is country or language-specific :-) I've heard you. Switching current account in lots of places is really a ten years old problem... Will rethink this.
@autogestion A month or two ago I visited the https://test.activitypub.rocks site and at last found out, which exactly features are REQUIRED for a client app to formally declare its support of #ActivityPub. I've added "Client discovers the URL of a user's outbox from their profile" already, working on other features. What's most important is that internal data model of #AndStatus is already compatible with #ActivityPub, I hope :-) The only hard part to implement is compatible OAUTH (AndStatus supports two variants of OAuth, but it looks like I will need the third for ActivityPub...) After completion of the REQUIRED features I will create the new "ActivityPub" Social Network Type (in addition to the three existing) and will start actual testing... Unfortunately, I don't see any working _real_ (not a toy) server with Client to Server layer support, where I could register as a user and test my client app ;-( ?!
@aldobelus I know about problems with #notifications, please read my reply to you 5 days ago about my own investigation of possible causes, including about "there is nothing new". Unfortunately, due to the Twitter-like approach in a server to client communication taken by GNU Social many years ago and even by Mastodon recently, notes and activities that look the same for a human eye, are represented as different by each server. This is the main cause of users' confusions seeing notifications about the same activities. Hoping that the networks will eventually implement #ActivityPub "client to server layer" spec that resolves this deficiency, I plan to improve Notifications in #AndStatus even in the presence of such unavoidable duplicates... And another note: Looking for Notifications improvements, please make sure that you have AndStatus v.43.02 installed, see https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456
#howto use the #fediverse with nearly no internet connection with #AndStatus: Choose in the settings: - to not fetch images - to not fetch avatars - increase the time of sync Now next time you got internet connection, even if shitty as ~1kbs you can let AndStatus sync. Also no problem if internet connection is just accessible for some minutes. Messages get stored offline. You can read, fav., boost, and reply to them any given time. Once you've got internet again even you're replies will be sync.
@aldobelus @colegota I monitored my Notifications in #AndStatus for some days, and today I thought that I found a bug: I saw "2 mentions", but Notifications timeline didn't show me anything that I didn't see in the morning. I searched in logs for "NewNotification" and found out that in this case the two mentions were expected: 4 days ago I was mentioned by some user at mastodon.social, but only today I got two copies of the same note/mention: from mstdn.io and from loadaverage.org. Naturally these two new mentions were collapsed with that 4 days old mention, and this is why I didn't notice them...
@thatbrickster AndStatus just sends replies. Without any explicit public/private flags... "Public" flag is available for pump.io only, which supports a list of recipients (Public group is included in the list of recipients for a note to be Public).
@aldobelus If you have accounts in several fediverse instances/servers, you may receive the same activities via different servers. I see that this always happen for mentions/replies and reblogs. Look at the attached screenshot: I received the same replies and reblogs via two servers: loadaverage.org and gnusocial.no ("Collapse duplicates" checkbox is off) @colegotahttps://loadaverage.org/attachment/4707853
