The reason why the Fediverse cannot be Twitter is because they're trying to solve different problems.

Twitter: To collect and publish data through a centralized service, for one corporation to exclusively monetize it

Fediverse: To disseminate data through a decentralized protocol(s), allowing *anyone* to build with it

Social views on drugs just don't make sense.

For example, caffeine is a psychoactive drug. We don't think of it that way, but it's true. Every company serves tea and coffee, it's even available in banks, government offices, and churches.

"But people don't abuse caffeine!"

Oh, they do. Caffeine can actually be scary at high doses. I know this because it's happened to me. I've had so much caffeine, I felt like I was flying. And the inevitable crash was rough.
