@tA physical computers have finite memory, so they're really not turing machines, they're, as @lightdark says, finite automata - so you can just list every state they can be in and check for loops

like a lot of my solutions involve a program sitting in my host beaming out stuff over the M register Forever except that's Not Allowed so I gotta just guesstimate how often it needs to beam things out and kill it afterwards

it's really annoying that "a program is running on your own computer" counts as "leaving a trace" in exapunks

really hitting the every zachtronics game problem with exapunks where I feel I've solved the puzzle other than actually typing in the solution so I get annoyed that I have to actually do that
