So now Pleroma won't even finish compiling/installing before federation is even an issue.

Fuck it, let's scrap everything and start again. I wonder if it makes a difference whether I set up Pleroma as dev or prod before trying to make it a Hidden Service?

Or maybe I should just try making a dev version and see if it works, first...might be trying to run before I can walk.

all of the services are active, but Tor browser times out trying to access the onion address. If tor config worked but pleroma didn't, I'm not sure if this is the behavior that would result

Good News: the .onion address was misconfigured, and SSHing into the thing to get the correct address and paste it into config was successful

Bad News: damn thing doesn't work anyway

I'm 75% certain the Plemora issue is that I mistyped the onion address, because its a v3 address which is ungodly long. And I had to manually type it out because I don't know how to pipe into into the production and nginx configs from the command line, and I'm running Rasbian Lite so there's no mouse or GUI. And the fucking font and monitor resolution conspire to make it really difficult to visually differentiate "m" from "n", and "v" from "u".
