Glad to see this guide too recognizes that Mastodon instances are not the entire fediverse. Would be nice to see these guides recognize that the fediverse is older than Mastodon, and that it wouldn't exist if it wasn't for pre-existing projects like Diaspora, Friendica, and particularly Identi.ca and GNU Social. One day someone will write a canonical history of federated social media...
