When I launched pixelfed.social on May 31st, I didn't have email verification finished and so I would close registration when I was sleeping and had people request a username/account on a Google Form.
2 weeks later email verification shipped and I could sleep easier knowing I was preventing some spam. Also added Google Recaptcha but turned it off due to user feedback. #pixeldev

Now with federation support enabled, I find myself closing registrations when I sleep until we find more moderators across different time zones. ?
