   I think if there is a way to find a person who has a topic in common with a user on the entire instance, there are no reasons to see the local/federated timeline, and it is an ideal. Users should be able to use Mastodon without knowing it is federated social networking service.

     I also think it is important for the web UI to fetch remote user's latest information directly from that user's instance using CORS mechanisms.
