   have a compose key that actually works, instead of like some weird xmodmap call that's overwritten constantly by some program you can't find and has to be re-called over and over and anyways only works with this machine

     checked just now, and fcitx has built-in support for that. also can do a short clipboard history and snippets, so would be useful even if you don't have non-latinate languages to type

     mmmkay, well fcitx can do mozc, the open version of google's jp input, and that has good emoji support itself, all i ever use. need to know the jp name for the thing that way though
