i'd heard of it. maybe it's less talked about elsewhere, though, because it's basically an anti-muslim action, and islam is less popular than buddhism (outside of islamic states

eh, japanese has pretty minimalist grammar. less than english, and much less than german XX

for me it's hard because of memorising which sounds go with which characters, just for mandarin. and trying to add cantonese or others would be 無理X_X
it's nice to have kind of familiar characters, but the mainland simplified ones are annoying. taiwan's traditional are nicer

hard to write. but on computer, easier to see

maybe it's because i saw japanese characters first, and traditional ones are closer to them
for example, japanese uses 魚 , so 鱼 to me looks too strange
also though, i think they have more distinct shapes. the simplified ones look more similar, so harder for me to keep apart XX

mmm, for me

really i only just started to learn mandarin recently, so can't compare all. but i like japanese's sounds much better, more "clean"
when i was small, i grew with spanish, which also has clean sounds, so maybe it came naturally because of that

the chinese i met in universities were mostly not smart. they were also from very rich families, though, sending children overseas. is it different for poorer families?
-
@shmibs @Jojothegoodperson japanese is such a nice, simple language, at least for pronunciation

@lain @Jojothegoodperson
mmm mmm, sounds that make you feel happy ^_^
-
@Jojothegoodperson
hmmm, it makes sense, this difference. it seemed india does the same, sending the not-smart-but-rich children to different countries

it's just PITCH+volume rather than VOLUME+pitch

@Jojothegoodperson
is it not taught because it would connect china to the rest of the world?
-
@Jojothegoodperson
the internet split, though, also cuts you off, doesn't it? so i thought...
-
@Jojothegoodperson
that's good ^_^
for other countries, though, everyone knows english because it's taught in schools. is it not taught in china's schools?
