@shouko @pry i still think you should just learn kana by spending two days writing them 50 times, but yeah, duolingo is extremely slow for asian languages -

@ir2 @pry there are a few things like it, heisig comes to mind as well. as long as it's a mnemonic system with spaced repetition it will work. -

there are other system like it with different mnemonics, kd is just the one i know best. -

the "stories" thing that was added recently, asking some reading comprehension questions rather than "translate this exact sentence", is a big improvement. only have a few of them for the popular languages for now, though, and the same ones are used across languages, so it only works once -
