@shpuld @dwaltiz it's a great idiot parade
-
@dwaltiz @shpuld i wonder when game publishers / devs will become smart and just stop commenting on 'situations' like these. as you say, there's nothing here.

@shpuld @lain @dwaltiz
It's like people still don't understand that the gaming media is irrelevant and has no power to pick winners or losers anymore. Devs are way too scared of being smeared by resetera/polygon than they should be.
-
@shpuld @dwaltiz @lain remember when all of the gaming media went into a moral panic over Hatred (that edgy shooter game) writing a bunch of articles about how evil it is which amounted to basically nothing but a slight boost in sales.
-
@mono @shpuld @dwaltiz i think it's because the PR people mostly interact with the media, so they know those people best and think their opinion counts, and the 'bosses' ask PR about what to do in these kinds of situations.
-
@shpuld @mono @dwaltiz but they should know by now that apologizing and patching out stuff won't resolve anything.
-
@shpuld @dwaltiz @lain it's easier to just not do anything. These "people" are professional trolls and should be treated as such.
-
@shpuld @lain @dwaltiz
The louder they are over such a small thing, the more retarded they look to anyone with a brain (not totally enraptured by the eternal American culture war).
-
@mono @shpuld @dwaltiz well, and they get the backlash from the freezepeach crowd who then vote negative on steam for BENDINGTHE KNEE
-
@lain @dwaltiz @shpuld
I think it's unrealistic to expect one side to just capitulate to every demand though. People tried being polite about it and got told to fuck off so this is the end result.
-
@mono @dwaltiz @shpuld i agree, that's why i think this stuff should just be ignored.
-
@lain @dwaltiz @shpuld
I'd lose respect for anyone who gets bullied into making an inane PR statement to satisfy the egos of SA Goons who don't even buy games tbh.

@shpuld @why @dwaltiz @hj well if they're not gonna listen to their actual customers then maybe they'll listen to sales and refund numbers and do the math to figure out who they should back.

@shpuld @dwaltiz @hj @why
The rationale is stopping a shitty trend by turning the opposition into something that can't be ignored. If side A still aggressively attack over X issue and side B doesn't do anything, there's no reason not to concede to side A every time.
As for what gaymers lose, look at stuff like NoA translation censorship.
