  would rather it be in C than in php, as things are now, and am more comfy doing the logic in C than in any other language
  
  plus it won't require a big runtime on the server, which is a bit memory-low

  mmm, well i already have nginx and everything, so no need to make it a full http server; just will do fcgi stuff
