tl;dr
someone with a fake name wrote several asspained paragraphs about the mindblowing realization that the aztec empire is actually not nice because two articles written by two literally who journos in two seperate publications used different degrees of impartialness to describe a historical event.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad if you're going to document some kind of meaningful whitewashing trend you can do better than what some subhuman from NPR or WaPo write.
if you actually read the two articles linked, they're not really comparable at all. the NPR one is a short interview with some libshit archaeologist and the WaPo one is about a specific discovery written in a pop-sci tabloid way.
also lol at the pearl clutching about moral relativism like as if the aztecs were some uniquely evil culture that can't be written about dispassionately even though they've been dead for 400 years. they make disco songs based on genghis khan and nobody cares.
the people demanding an apology from the modern state of spain are just as brain-diseased as the people who think spanish colonialism was "justified". both have to believe in a bigger narrative that paints their preferred side as saints who dindu nuffin, when neither Cortez nor Montezuma gave a shit about anything other than their immediate survival at the time.
