If you put 「し」in this case、it means "dirty and...". ex)汚いし、不潔だ="dirty and unclean"Remember that all adjectives have 'い' or 'だ' as its last words in Japanese. (If some words end in 'い', we call it 形容詞, and if in 'だ', we call it 形容動詞 but both are mere adjectives in English) We changes these 'い' or 'だ' by its next word. ex) 楽しい + ない = 楽しくない (not funny) 楽しい + する = 楽しくする (make it funny) 楽しい + れば = 楽しければ (if it is funny) -
