     @igel 裕仁 was not what Hitler was in Germany.He didn't want to start the war and also didn't have enough power to prevent it.(It is true he didn't his best to prevent the war, though)

     @igel The emperor was no more than some kind of idol and was rarely involved in a political decision like the president of Germany today. It is all the Japanese that started the war.

     @igel Yes, but the Japanese emperor was not equivalent to West emperor. (It's because 天皇 can't have nice name such as Wilhelm or Friedrich) There is no word to express 天皇 in the West. Almost through whole history of Japan, the 天皇 has been an emperor but hasn't had the actual political power. (Some shoguns or bureaucrats had it.) Those who protected 天皇 and were admitted by 天皇 became kings in Japan. Some people say it is similar to the relationship between Caliph and Sultan in the Islamic world. Shogun was defeated by those who helped 天皇 and those who helped 天皇 made the parliament. Then 天皇 was bound by the parliament.

     @shovel these? Those are 2 different eras of germany. I guess you would say which empire you mean. Holy Roman, or Prussia/Preussen. German Empire wasnt really a thing until the Second Reich. So it was all just kingdoms who speak german.

     @igel 「ロマンがある」は日本の言葉で、かっこいいとか憧れる(aspiration?)、みたいな意味ですフランス語のroman(小説)が由来で、日本で意味が変わっていきましたRoman Empireは日本では「ローマ帝国」です ex.ローマ式敬礼 Roman salute
