@kaikatsu whenever i hear people (other than 本人) talk about survival sex and hurting, the jumped-to conclusion somehow seems always to be "and that's why we need to illegal and v&"too bad 本人 is never allowed a say in anything
-
@kaikatsu legal is not safely regulated either. try egging red-light district girls-being-sold-by-their-families, "oh, but this is what legal means"
-
@shmibs Legalization of sex work is harmful and has increased cases of sex trafficking in all attempts to legalize it. See: Germany's brothels

@kaikatsu counter with "anything illegal will still have a thriving black market due to demand and will be difficult to catch hold of because of all-around increased fear and caution"one thing that does help, though, is if you can actually talk to police or someone and expect them to help rather than steal any money and stuff you may have as suspected criminal contrabandshit is complicated, and people from the outside keep trying to apply these one-fell-swoop regulations that just complicate things and get people killed
-
@shmibs Anything not illegal will still have a thriving black market due to being able to undercut with a lack of regulations. Maybe you can safely regulate willing girls with OnlyFans, doesn't mean you're not gonna get undercut by people breaking the law who know people want an under-the-table, cheaper source.

@kaikatsu ※complicate things more

@kaikatsu like the parallel here to draw is with "The laws of mathematics are very commendable, but the only law that applies in Australia is the law of Australia." turnbull types and infosec, you get clueless law-makers, select corporate interests, and think-of-the-children activists all in a room and anything good coming out of there is impossible, and the normal people ignore it all or, when pressed, throw together a one-size knee-jerk position and then make up reasons to justify italso should have added to the above talking to police "or just arrest and deport you back to poverty"
