     @lain i mean, there is no "yours" or "theirs" electricity, what they do is really a spreadsheet exercise, they buy capacity to provide electricity for their customers and so do other companies, then there's still just one (in the region) distribution network, the job of the energy providers (quote-unquote) is to buy that energy, somewhere, by contracting the producers

     @lain what "my" provider does is they basically say ok, we will buy enough "renewable" electricity to cover your consumption, more or less

     @pony i guess they just do it by giving you whatever the local provider has and then exchanging money between everyone? no idea how it actually works.

     @lain i mean, they balance it over the entire year i think, it's far from real-time, so it's bit mehish in that sense too (tho it ofc wouldn't really be possible)
