@wowaname I'd have argued OLED would have a lower lifespan than projectors. Projectors can be noisy and require higher maintenance. Depends what you're willing to take.
@thatbrickster family had an RPTV previously, so im kinda familiar with maintenance. i probably have an irrational liking toward projectors, they just seem... nice. whats the estimated lifespan on oled televisions? i would assume colour balance could deteriorate faster over time due to the nature of oled, cant think of anything else
if anyone has tv model suggestions, i'd welcome them. current tv has 3 hdmi ports, a vga and antenna in that i dont use currently, a dvd player that i havent tried out yet—most important thing for me is hdmi input. i dont want a smart tv, nothing network-capable, i just want something that properly supports hdmi standby and cec, and isnt a bitch to configure
like this tv was on the cheap end so im not exactly bitching (plus *i* didnt pay for it, which is a plus) but im disappointed in westinghouse's evidential lack of care put into hdmi compatibility
so @e told me about hdmi-cec but unfortunately my tv doesnt even seem to support it. i need to save up for a 1080p tv that handles hdmi much better than this one, and sell the 720p one i got eventually
