@roka @crunklord420 you know i always thought GNU's *branding* problem was in coining free software, and having to explain that it means free as in freedom. Even using the term libre goes over people's headsLiberty on the other hand, many will immediately get. Now just to find some catchy way to combine it with software.

@cell @crunklord420 pretty sure it's why esr pushed for open software instead. However liberty software sounds like a publishing company so it made sense they'd stick with a short adjective instead. It just was unfortunately ambiguous on its own. Though, admittedly, the same could be said about open source – software of which source is available for scrutiny but cannot be modified wouldn't meet OSI's definiton but you could argue for its method of operation being „open” to the eyes of potential users)
