@kaikatsu that's fair, I just think the 5G thing made sense, at least in isolation.

@Moon Banning Huawei 5G equipment and not other 5G equipment definitely angered them. But Australia has put so many efforts into hurting China in small ways, I couldn't say it was the sole reason. If I had to guess, america will fill australia's slot and China will say "blame them, not us"

@kaikatsu wasn't this driven in part by Australia avoiding relying so heavily on Chinese communication equipment?

@shmibs @kaikatsu promoting things like communications equipment and securecomputing devices in-country also prevents the problem of losing valuable technology knowledge and manufacturing infrastructure.
