@Moon @icedquinn @Hyolobrika @underwater @xj9 problem is public infrastructure being controlled by private companies, welcome to coca-cola road, please pay our toll to continue driving
-
@icedquinn @Hyolobrika @underwater @xj9 Cable companies are even obligated to maintain a public access station that's open to everyone in the community.Of course the irony of that is that Republians tried to kill that requirement for years and now they're crying about Twitter.

@icedquinn @Hyolobrika @underwater @xj9 FCC regulates private companies like phone companies and cable companies.
-
@Moon @Hyolobrika @underwater @xj9 yeah but the FCC is treason.there is no "decency" clause in the constitution, therefore the FCC violates the first by acting as a censor, therefore furnace.

@Hyolobrika @xj9 @underwater they can still be trust busted though. :blobcatgiggle2: saw lawyer streams talking about the anti-trust act never actually says you need 100% market coverage to qualify, even just 70% can be enough especially when you start pivoting this in to further monopolies.
-
@xj9 @underwater they are de facto public platforms though
-
@underwater youtbue, birdsite, and that other thing with the thots are all privately owned media platforms. free speech (1st amendment-wise) doesn't apply. they can censor whatever they want. just like you can decide what kind of stuff you allow on your feddi server.if you don't want neolib corporate control of your speech, then stop using neolib corporate platforms to broadcast from.

"America is less evil than other countries because of 1st Amendment"Not sure why anyone believes this. Nothing about America's current leadership indicates they value free speech. The all-encompassing media censorship and the minuscule pushback against it would indicate the opposite. They do not support it. If it was not here, they would not push for it. That our educational systems are indoctrination mills churning out youths who oppose "hate speech" indicate they're actually hard at work to normalize opposition to free speech. Free speech is baked into the cake, it's part of America's life blood. It's only still here cuz that's not the sort of thing you can just stamp out over night.
