@hakui @orekix @Baishujinkou @allison @kushchan both being surrounded by water, see also NZ, and speedily implemented contact-spying are big factors, mmmthat wearing a mask has an effect is something anyone can test first-hand, though.- virions spread via water droplets- putting a thing in front of your face makes your face fog up and get moistmeaning putting a thing in front of your face holds in some subset of your exhaled water droplets, and thus virions that might otherwise have infected peoplescientific testing is needed to check which materials are effective to what degree, but for something so simple that obviously does something and causes minimal inconvenience, there's not really a good reason not to do it, except being a contrarian jerkit's like licking things and handing them to people. you need scientific testing to work out how long virions are likely to remain active on the surface, but it's still a stupid thing to do even without that information

@orekix @allison @Baishujinkou @kushchan in taiwan's case it was more of "let's close the borders especially with china"
-
@allison @kushchan @Baishujinkou Some people say that China didn't manage to get things under control and everything is fake but Taiwan and Vietnam are even bigger outliers when compared with western countries in cases/deaths. Masks definitely work, even if you go by >just a flu meme and all that.

@kushchan @Baishujinkou I go by the health recommendations in countries which actually have this thing stamped down cold, not the ravings of American politicians in an attempt to exert control~ (although I do have a relatively positive opinion of Whitmer compared to pretty much every other blue state governor in this regard)
-
@allison @Baishujinkou i used to be pro mask until I realized they are merely being used for control and compliance and not actual safety. this is pretty much proved by how many politicians got caught not wearing masks after demanding all of their subjects do.
-
@kushchan @Baishujinkou I'm pretty sure mask wearing is also the clinical recommendation of Taiwan's health agencies alongside Japan and South Korea, and you should be able to find plenty of stuff from those countries on the subject if you search around~ (and fwiw, I was basically 100% pro-mask from day 1 *because* of Taiwan's advisory, CDC flip-floppers and WHO propaganda be damned)

@Baishujinkou Which scientists, and which platforms were they speaking on? Please do not say Fauci because he has been caught flip flopping his stance based on popular opinion (earlier this year he was saying masks don't work) and please do not name any scientists who were speaking on mainstream media. If anything, I've seen a ton of scientists saying it's okay to not wear a mask on platforms such as YouTube and vimeo, only for their videos to get removed. Awfully suspicious...
