@lain @Moon I think they're just referring to the biggest jump in death rates since we found something that works on a lot of infections that used to just kill everyone

@feld @Moon it feels like baseball statistics to me. it sounds related because viruses cause illness and antibiotics cure illness, but it's not the same illness.

@Moon 'since penicillin was invented' seems like a weird cut off point. penicillin doesn't work against viruses, and both the spanish flu and the wuhan flu are viruses.
