don't pfizer et al have an incentive to lie about the effectiveness of their vaccine because it will result in them being rewarded with billions worth of contracts while being exempt from liability, why exactly would they tell the truth about it

@augustus doing so would be pretty dangerous for them, massive public backlash if caughtalso, there are test subjects who've since checked themselves for antibodies elsewhere, so it's at the least known to not be completely ineffectual

@augustus institutions are made of peoplethere are lots of people working in medicine who do it because they actually care about making people healthykeeping all those people quiet would be pretty difficult, particularly when non-official broadcasting channels are more available today than at any other time in history-of-large-societies

@shmibs oh shmibs, the media creates public opinion and determines what backlashes can be allowed to exist and if they are incentivised to cover up the ineffectiveness of the vaccine then nothing will happen. you have such a charming naive faith in the inherent goodness of institutions.
