@Bajax@lain@Moon > Obtain power, make the rules yourself, or somebody else will do the same and use it to oppress you.that's the "right" stereotype. gotta do it to you first, because i know you'll do it to me otherwisestereotypes are, though
@lain@Moon Well, the trump types are just playing the same politics the right have been playing since the beginning-- they have an illusory ideal world that follows some pre-set moral code that was set down thousands of years ago. Often they choose to enforce it selectively, but they don't think in terms of power for power's sake. The radical left is *very* different in this regard. They have convinced themselves that moral codes are set by those in power to protect their power. They don't think there's any objective morality to follow- it's just a matter of kill or be killed. Obtain power, make the rules yourself, or somebody else will do the same and use it to oppress you.
@Bajax@Moon god emperor trump type people have said the same thing. trend has been to be super 'let the state control it', be it left or right. luckily, it's been mostly powerless intellectual fringe groups on the tubes and the chans.
@lain@Moon The line between outright lies and holding self-serving beliefes because it's convenient is extremely thin even at the best of times. A lot of these people, PT included, are believers in the Alinsky/Commie/PoMo view that power justifies everything. Once you imbibe that... Well, there's not really a line at all.
@Bajax@Moon i wouldn't be so sure. people don't plan their life like some evil scheming villain. if you believe what you are saying, it all comes naturally. when madeline albright said that all the dead iraqi children were worth it, i think she believed it.
@Moon@Bajax i don't think a substantial amount of people becomes trans for clout in the sense that they think 'hey if i'm trans then my channel will be more successful'.
@mono a lot of it is, but it's very pronounced on breadtube. maybe it's because the subject matter is so divorced from the actual topic (the tubers themselves). with vtubers, it's clear that it's about the characters. with breadtubers, it's supposedly about the plight of marginalized groups and not about how cool the presenter is.
@lain@Bajax@Moon you've met borderline people beforesubset, butgenuinely believing oneself to be a bad person, maybe requires that sort of mental split that "healthy" people usually haven't got, yeh, a self-reflecting insider viewand.pngheh.png
@lain@Moon And what convinces them that they're good is really primitive from a psychological sense. Whoever is in the most pain (or at least who inspires your sympathy the most) is the most deserving. That's how you get intersectionality as such a driving force.
