    @Moon @awl the higher-oxygen-levels thing isn't completely certain; can be an issue of niche partitioning, insects getting outcompeted once vertebrates are around (over-size dragonflies apparently stuck around longer, into the permian when oxygen levels weren't as high but pterosaurs and birds still hadn't shown up). either way though, insects never got that big, yeh, so the lack of a proper circulatory system is a big hurdle

      What is it with Fallout and the wastelands somehow recreating insect gigantism? Gigantism was due to higher oxygen levels in the air but wouldn’t nuclear war cause lower oxygen levels?
