i agree with NFSN free speech stance and i hate that "free speech" = "so i *can* be racist ha" these days

@Moon @xj9 as far as actual law goes, already a mountain of restrictions everywhere fraud, defamation, hate-speech, fighting-words etcjust like killing people, "it's murder, unless you got really angry or you're running over people at a protest"

@xj9 The ACLU's opinion used to be that freedom of speech was so fragile that it was dangerous to add restrictions to it anywhere. I think this is similar to what I think. if you're talking about private platforms I don't think you should be obligated to host stuff you don't like until you're big enough that you're basically infrastructure (ideally we wouldn't let companies get that big, instead)

@Moon yeah but if you're mostly helping racists broadcast, that's a benefit to free speech? to associate the idea that people can speak their minds with nasty racists? i don't get the endgame.

@xj9 racist speech is more obviously free speech than most commercial "speech"
