my backups are basically self-healing at this point, the script complained a bunch when one of the servers went down the other day in the middle of backing up, and since then I deleted two snapshots, re-ran the script a few times manually, and now it's fixed

  im using zfs with zfs_autobackup https://github.com/psy0rz/zfs_autobackup which fits all my needs and is very clean
