実はLet's Encrypt（ISRG）が署名付きルート証明書を作るのは例の件が最初ではなくて、ECDSAルート証明書もRSAルート証明書で署名されている。

  ホスト証明書←E1←ISRG Root X2←ISRG Root X1←DST Root CA X3という3連続ルート証明書もわざと手で作れば作れないことはないだろうけれど、普通にLet's Encryptから発行されるチェーンはISRG Root X1にDST Root CA X3からの署名がつかない予定。

    Extending Android Device Compatibility for Let's Encrypt Certificates
    
    We’re happy to announce that we have developed a way for older Android devices to retain their ability to visit sites that use Let’s Encrypt certificates after our cross-signed intermediates expire. We are no longer planning any changes in January that may cause compatibility issues for Let’s Encrypt subscribers. A recurring theme in our posts about our upcoming chain switch has been our concern over the effects on users of Android operating systems prior to 7.
