@wakarimasen @hakui to water, of course
-
@moth_ball @takao @wakarimasen @hakui (vit-d req is over-estimated on all testing now, so people show up deficient even when not
-
@hakui @takao @wakarimasen As always I'll lecture you all that vitamin D is the only supplement needed for people who eat mainly Real Food (tm). If you're a vegan, consider eating b12 too. If feeling tired and anergic, the doctor can get you a blood test for iron. Source: some dudes in a university lecture hall

@hakui @wakarimasen joking aside, it washes out electrolytes, thins down the blood and causes cell swelling - especially in the brain, to the possible point of damage.

@takao @wakarimasen hahaha how is electrolyte depletion real just watch redditors get owned lmao
-
@takao @wakarimasen hahahaha how is overhydration real like just go to the toilet lmao
-
@hakui @wakarimasen which effectively means you can drink more water than an average human. You know that people can die from overhydration, right?
-
@takao @wakarimasen no we're talking about being /less/ sensitive
-
@shmibs @hakui @takao @wakarimasen Also I'm from pretty high latitudes, so the vitamin D question is no doubt oversold to someone who gets more sunlight throughout the year.

@moth_ball @takao @wakarimasen @hakui fortified foods should be enough for everyone, and taking too much, via supplement etc, can actually hurt youhow the body deals with vitd changes along with skin tone, depending on what latitude the person's genes are from. from-sub-saharan-africa-genes bodies do less binding, so they'll generally have lower circulating levels on tests while still being finefor from-high-latitude pale people it gets collected more in the liver, can build up stock enough that way to last several weeks, was useful for short-day winters. maybe not enough for finland, but +fortified foods should manage that (have got those, don't you?)also:2021-1623769421.png2021-1623769465.png
