kinda doubtful this bmi thing. like is the "healthy range" really normal?
-
@lebronjames75 the things it calls normal seem overweight to me, though
-
@shmibs bmi is just a tool to help you estimate your body weight in comparison to what would usually be good. For reasons, it will be wrong for extreme cases (some races will have different values for healthy ranges, and anyone doing muscle building will be more towards 'obese' even though he is actually perfectly healthy)bmi's a tool, and healthy range is generally normal for the average western person, yes.is it below healthy range? you should, most likely, eat more.is it above healthy range? how's your muscles, do you gym/lift/workout daily, or are you a fat man with blubber 360 around you?tl;dr yes
-
@shmibs it assumes some average amount of muscle mass for a male female adult humannot a great value to track on a personal level, but can indicate problems
-
@lebronjames75 dunno, just that it's saying "normal" begins at like 10kg heavier than me. i've never weighed that much before...
-
@shmibs give me an example if possible.my own personal anecdotal evidence is quite fitting for BMI numbers and values, my bmi is ~~21-22 rn, and i could definitely put on a couple kilos before i would even think of considering myself fat, im not very muscled either, but im not quite skeleton tier eitherbmi's just a tool/number for comparisons, this cant be stressed enough, there's plenty of examples where its going to be straight up 100% misleading. but that doesnt mean it's 'wrong' either.

@lebronjames75 i do wonder if it's calculating for guy's muscle
