   I suppose the silver lining is that Facebook being down did give the world a break from the constant stream of misinformation being beamed into peoples' brains.

   It is a bit suspicious that all of their platforms have gone down *right* after a whistleblower went public with extremely damning criticism. But if it was a calculated move, it will backfire if people see it as proof of them being *too* powerful.

     It's also worth remembering though that WhatsApp is the primary communication method in a lot of countries because it's free and encrypted.

     If Facebook had not been allowed to buy their competitor, there would not be millions of people across the world missing what has become an essential utility.

     One of the benefits of not being on Facebook is that you hear about a global outage and just shrug ????
