America has a myriad of problems especially coming from a brown man. But I'd still rather live here than literally any other country.

@sim lack of Mexicans bugs me because there are very few people I can connect with on a fundamental level. These people were just raised differently. When you're around your own people there's so much you can connect on like family rituals, the food you ate, little behaviors you were raised with that make no sense to anyone that wasn't raised the same way. It's not a horrible experience but it just gets tiring after too long. The food is the most impactful thing for me tbh. I hate suburban American white people food.
-
@triodug @sim dunno what family culture is like, but scared of leaving airzona here mostly over food too, like "mexican restaurant" anywhere else north is XX
-
@triodug Understandable. Even while we are a conquered people, things haven't really changed there for the people of my country. We've just allowed more foreigners here, to buy up the land and to live here. But that is the state of being conquered when you think about it. It has happened a few times in my country's history. It's uncanny when you realise it, we've forgotten much of that history though. Why does the lackof Mexicans where you are bug you?
-
@triodug I have the opposite. I thought about moving to America in my youth, and a few other countries but not many. But honestly, I realised that everywhere is shit thanks to politics so I'd rather stay where I am. This is where I have the connections to home, even while other people are here to destroy my heritage.
-
@sim yeah wanting to remain where your heritage is the strongest is completely understandable. I think at the end of the day that's why I'd never leave. I live up north and the lack of Mexicans here bugs me.
-
All of my white friends dream of leaving America and living abroad in some gay ass European country. I just feel absolutely zero interest or connection to the old world. My people have been here forever and so will I.

@triodug @shmibs @sim @why this is too accurate

@Moon @shmibs @sim @why hardest part is sifting through all the Mexicans with dogshit recipes that managed to open up a restaurant and fool all the white people.
-
@why @Moon @shmibs @sim I searched pretty far and wide and looked through all the evidence suggesting that the place I went to was legit authentic Mexican. And it still absolutely fucking sucked.
-
@triodug @why @shmibs @sim i think the hardest part is finding the white person who likes authentic and knows where to go.
-
@triodug @Moon @shmibs @sim yeah because i couldnt take you to south milwaukee where all the spics live
-
@Moon @shmibs @sim my experience in the Midwest suggests this is false.
-
@shmibs @triodug @sim There are enough Mexicans in the Midwest now that it's not hard to find good Mexican food as much.
