   does someone know telephones how to copy off system files and such?here mother loses password and there's no way to retrieve it but from android email client

     @shmibs I think they're all encrypted now. you can only copy file when the phone is unlocked

     @Moon how to access those files at all, though? i do not know how to telephone ._.some person's github thing saying "it's stored and encrypted, but they all use the same key, so can decrypt", https://github.com/lovasoa/samsung-email-password-decrypt , but i have no idea how to access "/data/user/0/com.android.email/databases/EmailProvider.db" or whatever

     @shmibs if phone isn't rooted, you're not "supposed" to be able to copy private application data out like that. if she is running Android <12 you can copy it out anyways though with `adb backup` (install android-tools on your distro, go to developer options on phone and enable USB debugging, connect via USB to computer, do `adb backup --help`). will create an archive of some sorts and you can dig through that.

     @shmibs you install developer tools to get the adb tool, and you can use adb shell and adb pull to grab files off the phone
