@eal mmm, was same here, i guess because scandi-grands? and everyone would meet their househad to be one make whatsitcalled rice soup yesterday here because father can't be without, too annoy how much babying it takes to not burn XX
-
@shmibs We celebrate and exchange gifts on the eve, day is for taking it easy and eating leftoversAs a kid it was nice getting gifts "early" compared to cartoons. At some point the balance flipped over to parents being more impatient to get to the gift opening part

@eal ah yes, sister-in-law got it, somewhat hazardous ????grandfather would say it's worth "a fiver", which guess is pretty good when you're 6-old ah dunno even what to search for some those weird norway food things grandmother would have
-
@shmibs rice porridge? do you also hide almonds in there
-
@shmibs In our family, the almond is sneaked into the youngest kid's plate always, it becomes kinda silly when they catch on and adults still insist on doing the almond-hiding dancelutefisk (lye-preserved fish) is one weird christmas food that all nordics seem to have, maybe that?
-
@eal mmm, do know lutefisk at least and want to never eat it again even if wasn't vege ????otherwise though stuff is kinda just hazy, been maybe 12 years now i guess since people last all met there. living in a desert chilis and tortillas, that stuff all feels kinda far away and foreign

@eal and super cute youngest XD, but maybe need to pick randomly at least from a few younglings. know that happened some times, was easier to do such having like 10 children around at any given time, giant protestant fruitful-and-multiply type family...
