     @lain guess so; just that besides the data-hoarder pirates it's academic types who've made that infrastructure (oftentimes people who fit both descriptions, would count alexandra elbakyan as such etcboth being stereotypically money-averse, and it's intrusion of money-getter manager-types into academia that's locked things up behind paywalls
