gimme the quick rundown on the "fork"
-
@shpuld @augustus particular guy being unpleasant has also scared a lot of people away since a while, even if that's less obvious
-
@augustus oh and conflict of goals as well, lots of people don't care for this goal of trying to compete with twitter
-
@augustus bunch of developers and community people don't like the lack of leadership + no rules for maintainers situation on upstream pleroma, problems manifested with the alex situation (merging unreviewed/unapproved code, attitude towards other devs and users), so they want to fork where they can develop without these problems
-
@augustus @shpuld from what i can tell it's mostly just him, yes, though gotten on different peoples' nerves in different ways
-
@shmibs @shpuld is this Alex? you make it sound like its a purely political thing
-
@shpuld @augustus it would still be a problem but maybe less of one
-
@shmibs @augustus it wouldn't be a problem if there was good rules in the project and things could remain professional
-
@shpuld @augustus mmm, agree it's good ideal. just that how people act in "unrelated fora" will necessarily affect interactions within project, particularly when those fora have strong overlap. so rules only in one place can't make all drama go away
-
@shmibs @augustus at that point it's more of a personal problem if people feel uncomfortable, if no actual rules are being broken. you can't just kick people because they're not liked
