   @helene it seems like it actually uses a kinda outdated setup. I used to use vim, then switched to spacemacs, then to neovim with random cargo culted configs, but I finally wanted a config that I understand so I know why stuff breaks

     @lain at this point, why not use spacevim? (though i must admit, i don't like spacevim at all)

     if you have a few decades of vim experience, you'll only need a few weeks of reading and a few hours of configuring until you can get neovim to work nearly as well as visual studio code does out of the box
