if a husband told a wife he thought about her friend during sex she'd be appalled but women seem to be okay with regularly watching porn and some even try to emulate it??? t's just wild to me. the women in porn aren't seen as people but as objects in media. it's all considered as real as a movie or a videogame when it is actually happening to women. it is just so strange to me... if you love someone why do you need to think about other people while you masturbate. what the fuck

@georgia @triodug @why though porn stuff is gross and live-action things particularly exploitative, but much that problem user side is just christian stuff, both daemonising anything sex, so men who watch hate themselves for it and do humiliating "confess to it publically" while wives see it more problem, and also encouraging people to marry strangers and stay with them forever uncomfortably

@georgia @why yes you acknowledged it but didn't really connect the concept. Again it definitely isn't necessary but what is these days? We don't center our lives around only what is necessary. Lots of factors are strongly correlated with divorce but that doesn't suddenly make correlation = causation.

@why @georgia exactly this but also they aren't real people to the brain. In the moment they're just items manufactured for the sole purpose of helping us jerk off. There's no feelings in it whatsoever and absolutely no chance of actually being competition.

@georgia imagination weakens with age, even if you arent addicted to porn it may be hard to get off by only thinking about someone.thinking about someone else during sex is a different thing, its not a stretch to be in love with someone youre not attracted to.finally, a porn star or supermodel or etc are unattainable mates. but your wifes sister is attainable and you had brunch with her last sunday.

@shmibs @triodug @why not really sure what you're saying. i don't see pornography as sexual expression any more than watching food network is cooking. people say they'd hate the appalling stuff in real life, so what is there to explore. it's bourgeoise and self indulgent and i really don't care about shame from it. i think its unfortunate that anti-porn sentiment is associated popularly with the religious right but its a natural result of the popularity of hugh hefner faux-progressive neoliberal "sex-positivity". (brilliant language engineering because porn isn't sex)
