I often think about that one post that claimed below-average IQ havers are literally unable to understand hypothetical situations.

@hakui i read the source of that and i stopped because my bullshit detector went off too many times.

@mono >Africans, I believe, may generally lack the concepts of subjunctivity and counterfactuality. Subjunctivity is conveyed in such statements as, “What would you have done if I hadn’t showed up?” This is contrary to fact because I did show up, and it is now impossible for me not to have shown up. We are asking someone to imagine what he would have done if something that didn’t happen (and now couldn’t happen) had happened. This requires self-consciousness, and I have already described blacks’ possible deficiency in this respect. It is obvious that animals, for example, cannot think counterfactually, because of their complete lack of self-awareness.
>When someone I know tried to persuade his African workers to contribute to a health insurance policy, they asked “What’s it for?” “Well, if you have an accident, it would pay for the hospital.” Their response was immediate: “But boss, we didn’t have an accident!” “Yes, but what if you did?” Reply? “We didn’t have an accident!” End of story.

@hakui
i don't think amren is something girls should read.

@mono what tripped it?

@hakui
Imprecise generalizations of an entire continent of people with more genetic variation than the rest of the world combined. Grouping bushmen with yoruba is a clear sign someone doesn't know what they're talking about. Also Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis being invoked a lot is especially stinky.

@mono i first read it elsewhere, didn't touch the rest of the site

@hakui
"lets list traits of abject stupidity and then make them uniquely african to explain why american blacks suck" is sloppy motivated reasoning that's not worth my time. yeah zulu having no word for promise is why tyrone wont show up on time.
-
@mono sure the generalization might be a bit much seeing how most of the anecdotes were from south africa
but i believe sapir-whorf does have some actual influence

@hakui the claim african blacks have no sense of morality when all pre-colonial african literary output we know of is about morality or virtue in particular (same as every other pre-modern culture). the claim that higher order thinking is somehow alien to even the highest G loaded african because... it's not in the dictionary.
