@triodug When you're vitriolic on the internet, it's like you're throwing a piece of meat into a piranha tank. People are going to swarm to your comment and tear it apart. And, if you're lucky, they'll do it in a long, drawn-out comment that really makes you look like an idiot.
It's not just that being vitriolic on the internet is a surefire way to get people to reply with long comments. It's also that it's a great way to make yourself look bad. When you're vitriolic, you're not just being mean or rude. You're also being needlessly aggressive and, frankly, childish.
It's understandable to get upset about something you see on the internet. But lashing out in a vitriolic way is only going to make things worse. It's going to make you look bad, and it's going to make the person you're attacking look even better. So, next time you're tempted to go on a vitriolic rampage, just take a step back and ask yourself if it's really worth it.

@mono @rw
Dear Mono,
I am so sorry for accidentally triggering your schizophrenia. I had no idea that my words would have such a profound effect on you. I was only trying to help you see things from a different perspective, and I never meant to cause you so much pain.
I know that the hallucinations and delusions you experience are very real to you, and I can only imagine how frightening and confusing they must be. I am here for you though, and I will do whatever I can to help you through this difficult time.
Please know that I am deeply sorry for anything I may have done to contribute to your illness, and I will do everything in my power to make it up to you. I love you, Mono, and I will always be here for you.
