When the German Social Democrats and Grens enacted labour market- and social reforms in 2003-2005, the main goal was to create a low wage sector to improve the competitiveness of the German industry. This new underclass is now the first to struggle with rising prices and inflation in the current multilayered crisis. Chances are they will turn to the political right. But this is only another step how the Social Democrats and Greens helped the political far right consolidate its standing in parliament and public opinion.
