This is indeed a difference of Twitter and the #fediverse: When people decide that a conversation is not worth continuing because of unbridgeable differences, on Twitter it most often turns into acrimony and a shouting match. In the #fediverse it turns into a polite farewell, perhaps spiced with a grain of irony. I like hat.
