How can we prepare the next exodus from Twitter and Facebook to the #fediverse? 🤔
As I see it, there are 3 obstacles that need to be figured out.
1. People need to know what instances / platforms they should join, based on interests and what kinds of things they want to post. They should also know about what client applications will suit them.
2. People need a brief, simple explanation early on for how fediverse apps work. That means federation, interoperability, terminology, conventions, and use cases.
3. People need a straightforward way to find and follow one another once they've moved over. Some people complain about Mastodon not having the same reach that Twitter does, but I think that varies with how willing you are to engage with a new group of people.
