Instead of bashing Musk and criticizing Twitter, I think it's important that we all focus on increasing the appeal of the alternatives. #mastodon is great, but for the greater good it's more important that people feel secure to move away from #twitter than that they move to Mastodon. I dislike #meta but I think #instagram right now is still a lesser evil. #linkedin is a place to find an audience if you're a public speaker. Building communities in #discord and #twitch works as well.

Besides #Mastodon, there's a whole universe of community driven projects: have a look at https://fediverse.party/ -

Totally agree. Just pointing that, if people need to move, I think they better go to a better place. -
Kerfuffle (kerfuffle@mastodon.online)'s status on Friday, 16-Dec-2022 19:42:16 JST Kerfuffle @aab I personally also believe the fediverse is better than any of the ones I mentioned. I don't think "bigtech company" in itself is a valid argument though. Track record is, which is why I think people should avoid instagram, facebook and whatsapp as well.
The thing is that I think it's more important right now that people are aware that voting with their feet is an option in the first place.
