I also read the plot of Ringu and it actually made sense, I only ever saw the US version and so much shit in that film just made no sense to me at the time, now it's finally clicked for me the horror of needing to get someone else to watch the tape to be spared yourself. in the US film they just needed to make a duplicate of the tape, which is not very dramatic -

This scene is awesome. I don't know if it's intentional but the blood streak down Kayako's cheek makes it very briefly look like she is grinning a hideous demonic smile when her face comes into view, but its only a split second and then you realize she looks more worried and intrigued. absolutely fucked me up on first viewing
