   意を決してWindowsUpdateしたら音が出なくなりました。
   未確認ですが、USB DACも使えなかった場合は詰みですね。（iTunesはAirPlayで何とかなります。）

     ドライバを手動で再インストールしたところ復旧しました。

     WindowsUpdateで音が鳴らなくなる問題の解決方法が公開されていた。
